Serves 4-6

Description

Made in a bread machine and not quite sweet, great for breakfast and if left over toasted and spread with butter, but very yummy fresh with cheese and dips too. I use 500 grams bought bread mix sometimes rather than make my own mix. Add yeast first then flour and water and place figs, walnuts and spice in fruit drop container. Just as nice and easier.

Ingredients

500 grams white bread flour (strong flour)
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons bread improver
1 3/4 teaspoons dried yeast
350 mls water

75 grams roughly chopped walnuts
75 grams dried figs roughly chopped and coated with about a tablespoon of flour so that the figs don't stick together and easily fall out of dried fruit container in the bread machine
1/4 teaspoon of ground star anise ( I use a mortar and pestle to grind a couple of star anise)

Instructions

Follow your machines order of adding ingredients.
I have a Panasonic bread machine that bakes the best bread. This is the order I use for my machine.
In bread pan add yeast, flour, salt, sugar and then the water last.
Put the walnuts and figs and star anise powder into dried fruit container in the lid of the bread machine.
Set machine on fruit bread bake (bake-raisin), 4 hrs or timer over night so that you wake up to the lovely smell of fresh baked bread.

Notes

You can add a little cinnamon too.
