A great canape or appetizer. Nice for large sunday brunches, easy to make, savor and sweet all at once.
Ingredients
• 12 dates, pitted • 6 strips of thick cut, black pepper coated bacon • Olive oil • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar • 1 teaspoon of ancho chili powder • Orange blossom honey for finishing
Instructions
• Preheat the oven to 300 degrees • In a glass bowl, mix the sugar and chili powder • Rub a light coating of the mixture over each date • Cut the strips of bacon in half • Wrap a half strip around each date and seal with a toothpick • Heat a skillet over medium high heat • Add the wrapped dates and lightly sear on each side to slightly crisp. • Transfer the dates to a paper towel lined and pat dry • Add the dates to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and finish in the oven for about 4 to 5 minutes • Drizzle a little honey over each date and serve while hot

Sounds delish!!! I try not to eat too much bacon... but seeing as though this is an appetizer, I think I can make an exception :)
